All historians study ideas in action. Using questions and methods drawn from intellectual and cultural history, this advanced seminar explores the history of ideas themselves: the influential ideas of philosophers, jurists, political activists or creative thinkers; the pervasive ideas of the everyday and vernacular; the 'idea' of war, civilisation or human rights.
