This Unit of Study will give vocal and instrumental students both theoretical and practical experience in pre-Baroque European music. Students will examine the basics of sixteenth- and early-seventeenth-century performance practice, discover how the sixteenth-century musical mind approached art, and understand how perceptions of the music of this period are coloured by modern aesthetics.
